After a travel time of over 24 hours and missed connections, I finally made it to Austria. When I landed in Linz, they had lost one of my suitcases. So after meeting a very nice English speaking Austrian, I finally submitted my complaint. Then I met my host mom. She even came into baggage claim because I was so late! She was very nice…and non-english speaking! After walking out of customs, there stood my host sister, Kathrin and my host cousin. A 20 minute car ride later, we pull up to the house. Well to be honest its not just a house…but a freaking mansion. With a barn attached! I saw the house from over a kilometer away. Its gorgeous! That night they had a going away party for Kathrin…but I was so tired that I almost fell asleep at the kitchen table. Going to bed at 9, I slept for over 12 hours. Saturday morning. I showered! hahaha and then went to my counselors house. She is very nice but doesn’t speak that much English. Sunday. We went to lunch at a restaurant with the whole family. It was very nice…but it is so hard to eat chicken wings with a fork and knife! After lunch, my host mom, sister, and aunt drove me to language camp. In Almünster, language camp is 2 weeks long. There are 45 inbounds from America, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador, Ukraine, Venezuela, Finland, Sweden, Japan, and Taiwan. We have classes everyday for 6 hours and lunch is the main meal…and always so good! Saturday we went with the rebounds for a cruise around the Traunsee Lake. It was so beautiful! and then Sunday we went to Hallstatt. We took a train and then a bus. We toured the salt mines, the oldest salt mines! They had some pretty sweet slides and the little train at the end was so much fun!
